* Do you know what the Round-Robin DNS is?

Suggested article from our blog: What is Round-Robin DNS and how to set it up?

Round-Robin DNS is

A way to distribute traffic. Each DNS request coming from a client will be redirected, depending on the information on the DNS records. For example, if there are 3 A records in the Round Robin DNS, you can redirect the incoming traffic to 3 different hosts, and that way, you can balance the load.

Here you can find Round-Robin example configuration!

How does it work?

The “Round” part comes after the number of requests becomes higher than the amount of the records. After that, it starts with the first record again. The records rotate.

As we mention, the most common way of using the Round-Robin DNS is with A or AAAA DNS records, but you can use it with ALIAS DNS records too. Just note that you can’t use it with CNAME, because there is a limit of 1 CNAME for a specific domain.
